CENTRAL HALL…AT THE CENTRE OF IT ALL.
Now under new management with a dynamic, unique and inspiring vision, CENTRAL HALL is ready to re-establish itself at the forefront of the Midlands as Birmingham’s Premier Arts, Entertainment, Exhibition, Conference, Live Music, Fashion and Club venue.
Many new and exciting projects have already been confirmed for the future of this breathtaking building – including the highly regarded Sauce Gallery taking over the venues newly refurbished Art Bar, which will proudly re-open the Central Hall on the 30th September 2010.
Sauce Gallery will exhibit the works of national and international painters, photographers, sculptures, printmakers and digital media artists throughout the proceeding months and will also be hosting the Art Bar from 12pm until late every day and night, offering a unique place where you can relax and enjoy the ambience of your surroundings after work, on your lunch break or just simply for a social.
Over the past year Sauce Gallery has moved from strength to strength. Exhibiting the hugely successful ‘Swifty Pop Shop’, ‘Mitchy Bwoy’ and working in conjunction with Birmingham International Jazz Festival exhibiting Music photographer Peter Williams’.
Sauce Gallery will be launching at Central Hall on the 30th September 2010
with “Headz” An exhibition of the work of Music photographer Peter Williams.
Williams’ iconic images for the late-lamented Straight No Chaser magazine will feature as part of a double-bill exhibition commissioned by Sauce Gallery, including Williams’ original images and remixes by the magazine’s former creative director, Swifty.
A Reflection on the Straight No Chaser Years’ is a powerful exhibition of portraiture featuring jazz legends like Don Cherry, McCoy Tyner, Yusef Lateef and Nina Simone. It also features nu-generation players like DJ Shadow, Reprazent, Soweto Kinch, Courtney Pine and Cassandra Wilson, as well as figures from further afield including, Flora Purim, Oumou Sangare, and the former Brazilian Minister for Culture Gilberto Gil.

· The Straight No Chaser Headz opens on 30th September 2010 at the Sauce Gallery, Art bar, Central Hall, Corporation Street, Birmingham, B4 6QB. Opening times: 10am – 6pm.
Central Hall’s new direction also includes Starlight Saturdays.
A weekly under 18’s community led event in the venues Main Bar space. Utilising the power of music to entertain and educate the youthful masses as well as offer support, training and a distraction from the all too tempting mundane realities of inner city life.
The High Spot is yet another newly refurbished space within Central Hall and Volume is kicking off things off in there with their fresh fortnightly take on the Midlands House music scene.
Add to that the monthly and ever popular Krackerz nights, Birmingham’s best free techno party Progeny, the soon to come Nu:ro trance nights, a whole array of internationally recognised upcoming events and exhibitions, including the massively anticipated return of one of the midlands biggest parties-FLASHBACK on the 4th of December- and it’s obvious to see that the buzz around Birmingham is going to be all about Central Hall.
Still here, despite the views of many and despite the recession, The Central Hall has once again risen with a new direction, new goals and a new vision.
This grand rebirth of this iconic Midland’s Building promises to showcase exactly what the venue is now allabout.
With newly refurbished bar areas, events spaces, and a restored grand entrance, Central Hall has finally got the loving touch it craved- without losing any of it’s original splendour and identity as a truly magnificent Grade II* listed building.
It’s versatility is unrivalled…having hosted huge club events- such as Cream, Pacha, Ministry of Sound and Atomic Jam. Internationally acclaimed Live artists- like David Bowie, Blur, Pulp, Infected Mushroom, Roni Size Reprazent and Daft Punk
The main hall amphitheatre has attracted capacity public audiences for musical extravagances- such as the performance of Squares-Circles-Labyrinths, which was performed by The Department of Music at The University of Birmingham in conjunction with the Music Theatre Group, BCMG, The Tippet Foundation and Birmingham Opera.
In 2008 Central Hall also opened it’s doors to an ambitious art installation, Merging Territories, Commissioned as part of New Generation Arts Festival.
Martial Arts events and extreme sports such as BMXing, In-line skating, Skateboarding and Pugilistic Arts have all become synonymous with Central Hall due to it’s versatility and incomparable character.
The new management team at Central Hall will lend their considerable knowledge and experience to Private Parties, Corporate Exhibitions, Art and Music Festivals and Live Music Shows, also having the means to  cater for Wedding’s, Banquets and Conferences.
The iconic venue also provides education and learning facilities within but not exclusive to, the following areas; workshops, theatre and dance rehearsals.  Other spaces within this historical behemoth- such as the chapel- will be used to host the freshest new live bands from Birmingham and beyond.
With space for everybody and everything, the buzz around Birmingham will really be all about Central Hall
