Every die hard trance addict loves a classics event. NU:RO launchs on the 9th Oct with a classics event with a difference, we’ve carefully selected the best up and coming DJ’s in the scene who will play there sets based on there DJ heros spinnning only there productions, remixes and tunes featured on there labesl. We are also carrying out this event on behalf of the charity “Help for Heroes” to try and raise some money for our brave injured and fallen heroes.

October 16th sees the arrival of a new night to hit Birmingham. Turn up the noise for VOLUME @ The High Spot. The High Spot is part of the legendary venue Q-Club. VOLUME aims to become a showcase for up-and-coming talents from in and around the midlands HOUSE music scene to shine in one of the country’s most famous settings. VOLUME has also teamed up with RE-SOUND Records to offer new Producers and DJ’s the opportunity to demonstrate their talent and offer the direct chance to begin to make waves in the industry. VOLUME aims to give you the chance to play out and show people what you have to offer. So please get on-board and send us your mixes to volume2010@live.co.uk, or simply bring along your CD-mix to the night, and our team will be only too happy to help you along.

The night itself promises to be a fun and affordable event, the perfect retreat from the over-crowded big nights in the city. There will be two rooms to enjoy – the main room will be jumping to the sounds of the freshest House DJs in the Midlands area, while the second room will be more down-tempo, perfect for networking, music chat, or simply a quiet drink with the your partner. Bar offers and drink deals mean that a night at VOLUME won’t break the bank – we still want you to have enough left to buy your favourite tunes!

So for a friendly, relaxed evening of the finest underground House from the newest talents in the game, make sure you’re listening out for VOLUME – and remember, we’re happy to hear your mixes, so please do bring them along and join the Volume community!

Formerly based at The Custard Factory this will now become a permanent resident at Central Hall. Sauce Gallery will exhibit the works of national and international painters, photographers, sculptures, printmakers and digital media artists throughout the proceeding months and will also be hosting the Art Bar from 12pm until late every day and night, offering a unique place where you can relax and enjoy the ambience of your surroundings after work, on your lunch break or just simply for a social.

Over the past year Sauce Gallery has moved from strength to strength. Exhibiting the hugely successful ‘Swifty Pop Shop’, ‘Mitchy Bwoy’ and working in conjunction with Birmingham International Jazz Festival exhibiting Music photographer Peter Williams’.
Sauce Gallery will be launching at Central Hall on the 30th September 2010 with “HEADZ” an exhibition of the work of Peter Williams.

Williams’ iconic images for the late-lamented Straight No Chaser magazine will feature as part of a double-bill exhibition commissioned by Sauce Gallery, including Williams’ original images and remixes by the magazine’s former creative director, Swifty.
A Reflection on the Straight No Chaser Years’ is a powerful exhibition of portraiture featuring jazz legends like Don Cherry, McCoy Tyner, Yusef Lateef and Nina Simone. It also features nu-generation players like DJ Shadow, Reprazent, Soweto Kinch, Courtney Pine and Cassandra Wilson, as well as figures from further afield including, Flora Purim, Oumou Sangare, and the former Brazilian Minister for Culture Gilberto Gil.

Central Hall’s new direction also includes Starlight Saturdays.
A weekly under 18’s community led event in the venues Main Bar space. Utilising the power of music to entertain and educate the youthful masses as well as offer support, training and a distraction from the all too tempting mundane realities of inner city life.
The High Spot is yet another newly refurbished space within Central Hall and Volume is kicking off things off in there with their fresh fortnightly take on the Midlands House music scene.
Add to that the monthly and ever popular Krackerz nights, Birmingham’s best free techno party Progeny, a whole array of internationally recognised upcoming events and exhibitions, including the massively anticipated return of one of the midlands biggest parties- and it’s obvious to see that the buzz around Birmingham is going to be all about Central Hall.
